Amsterdam Electric is a new venture born out of years of knowledge and experience in boats and their electrification, aiming to offer affordable maritime electric drivetrain. It does so primarily by focusing on recreational boating, as recreational boating obliged to sail electrically between 2025 and 2029.
Who is Amsterdam Electric?
Maarten van Lieshout
Maarten, aged 26, from Amsterdam, is the owner and founder of Amsterdam Boat Service. Since 2019, his company has been building electric boats for the canals of Amsterdam. They are also active in the maintenance and installation of diesel engines from Vetus and Craftsman, serving as a service partner for the Amsterdam-based sloops brand: Stormer. During his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at TU Delft, he developed a unique sense of technology. He designs his own frames and components for electric motors.
Jim van de Wetering
Jim, aged 26, from Amsterdam, is the initiator behind Amsterdam Electric. Growing up alongside Maarten in Amsterdam, he learned to navigate the city's canals from a young age. He proved to be a skilled skipper and worked as a captain alongside his studies in Business Administration. Later, he bought several boats and became increasingly involved in electric boating. With his experience in various boat sizes, Jim is the person to consult for advice on your boat's driving characteristics and the best electrical appliance.
